- Card
- “After secondary school, I became a printer’s
apprentice. Then, after military service, I studied advertising
graphics at the institution that is called MoMe, the Moholy-Nagy
University of Art and Design (previously the College of Design). Sándor
Ernyei, Károly Szelényi and Ernő Rubik were some of my teachers there.
It was for Rubik’s class in the theory of form that I made the first
Spidron folding as a piece of homework. Today, the Spidrons are a
family of shapes under trademark protection. The special mathematical
properties and attractive appearance of the system have generated
interest from scientists while also giving rise to many pieces of art.
I take it out on the conference circuit. I present my compositions of
triangles built from a very simple set of premises but brining a
plethora of results to students, teachers, scientists and engineers at
various workshops. In 2012, I defended by doctoral thesis at the
Faculty of Humanities of the University of Pécs. My dissertation was
about the reception of novelty.”
