Liz Maxwell

Bio: Born in West Point, New York; lives and works in Oakland, California.
Profil: Painter, printmaker.
Card: „Most of my latest work is abstract or semi-abstract. In printmaking and paintings, I often divide the plate or canvas into rectangular sections, looking for a way to arrange the rectangles so the relationships between them in terms of size and shape pleases me. After that, the colors and textures of each rectangle have to be wrestled with until they too are pleasing to me. I often included abstracted elements of nature in recent paintings and prints, based on close up photos I take on walks – for example, cracks in pavement, tree bark, leaves falling on water, or sand patterns on the beach.”
