Theodora Varnay Jones

Bio: Born is Hungary; lives and works in San Francisco.
Profil: Visual artist, sculptore.
Card: „The work l produce, in reductive, abstract style, concerns depth, accumulation and the shifting nature of perception. I investigate space by building layered structures of transparent and translucent materials. The focus in these pieces is the shifting interplay of these layers of opacity and clarity. The changing angles of viewing creates a depth of subjective information. In my recent sculptures I leave the structures hollow, to be filled by the reflections in the mirrored surfaces and the ever changing exterior, visible through the framework. The correlation of multiple, similar units in my drawings play a comparably important role to the layers. Repetition yields depth by sequence in time as one idea’s appearance is followed by the next.”
