Contemporary Dance Performance
by Emese Jantner and Zoltán Feicht
A contemporary dance
performance prepared for the Budapest closing program of the festival, carries
the same title as the exhibition: Red and White. The creators/performers are
Emese Jantner and Zoltán Feicht.
Emese Jantner was born in Budapest and learnt
at the Pécs Danceart School. Two years later she was member of the National
Theater in Pécs. From 1996 she was the dancer of the Middle-Europe
Dancetheater. She was working with Bozsik Yvette Company several times. In the
Pal Frenak Company she has been dancing since
1999. We could see her in Lakoma
(Festen) and Tricks & Tracks. In 1999 and 2000 she won the Viktor Fülöp
Danceart scholarship. Between 2003-2006 she was studying and working in Paris.
Since 2008 she has been member of Pal Frenak Company again.
Zoltán Feicht was
born in Budapest. He graduated from the Hungarian Dance Academy as a ballet
artist. He worked many years with the Hungarian National Ballet company, and
also with several dance companies all around the world: Grazer Oper, Irish
National Ballet, Europa Danse, and the well- known Cirque du Soleil. Currently
he is a member of the Pal Frenak Company.
The name “contemporary dance” marks a
complex and comprehensive technique which is based on the different 20th
century systems of technique and style. Moreover, it incorporates the ideas,
points of view and practice of “release” technique, improvisation and contact
improvisation into its movements and approach. Contemporary dance is a free
genre. It responds to its environment and the theme of the exhibition in the
exhibition space.
Dance unites the essence of the paintings and the wine: the
accurate, geometrically set movements surround us with the atmosphere of the
paintings on exhibit, whereas the dynamism and euphoria typical of the dance
refers to the wine.
The pure form of paintings, the accurate limits and shapes
bring forth an elevated association related to the colour of white. Wine and
intoxication known from the Dionysian cult evoke the colour of red. Dance, the
instantaneous art, unites this double feeling.
